Practica, classes and social dancing Classes and practica are held in the Church hall at 51 Albert Street, St Clair. Albert Street is off Forbury Road to the left if you are going toward the beach and the hall is behind the church. Sebastian Arrua will be teaching here at the Albert St hall from Tuesday May 15th until Monday June 11th. Classes will be on Wednesday evenings May 16, 23, 30 & June 6 and Saturday May 19, 26 and June 9 (see below for details). Sebastian is a fabulous young dancer from Buenos Aires. He was here in 2010 and we enjoyed him very much. Social events: There will be a special milonga for Sebastian on Saturday on May 26th in the Albert St hall . 8.30 - late. A chance to dress up. No charge - finger food provided, bring your own favourite drink. Also there will be 2 'Sundays with Sebastian' milongas - Sunday May 27 and Sunday June 10 at The Church, 50 Dundas St, 3.30 - 6.00. No charge but do support the bar. (We are also planning to be part of 'Dance, dance, dance' on June 9 - an event involving many of the dance groups in Dunedin to raise funds to provide fresh fruit nd vegetables for children from low income families.) Axis, breath and centre; Vals with colgadas; Sacada combinations; Milonga con traspie; Rhythm, movement and interpretation; Circulation on the dance floor; Close embrace – ways to create space inside the embrace; Adding the magic of the pause to your tango vocabulary;Giving your dance energy with the use of breath. There may also be a workshop for leaders only. Cost:

There is a practica on Wednesday evenings. From May 16 the practica time will be 9 - 10, after Sebastian's class. All tango dancers welcome. Come and enjoy the music and the company and practice all the moves you have learned in workshops, travels, you-tube.
The cost for the practica if you are not doing the class is $5.00.

There is a milonga every second Sunday @ 'The Church - Restaurant and Bar' in Dundas St 3.30 - 5.30. The next Sunday milonga will be on Sunday May 27 2012. There is no entry fee but do support the bar. Also check out 'The Church' in Dundas St on Friday nights for 'Latin dance fusion' from 9.00pm until late. Music played is Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Tango. DJ is Steve. We enjoy having visiting tango dancers come along so if you are in Dunedin for the weekend or on a Wednesday, a warm welcome awaits.
